The North American Prairie Conference will gather some of the brightest minds in prairie conservation for America’s oldest and most celebrated native grassland conference on June 26-29, 2023, in Altoona, IA. The four-day event will include sessions on topics ranging from prairie protection, restoration and stewardship to education and engagement, field trips to outstanding prairies across Iowa, and ample opportunities to connect and network with fellow prairie enthusiasts. The Iowa Prairie Network will be awarding scholarships to a select number of college students. Student scholarship recipients will be awarded free event registration and free lodging at Grand View University. Scholarship recipients will also be reimbursed up to $50 for travel expenses.  The maximum value of each scholarship is $400.

Application deadline is May 15th, 2023. Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis beginning March 15th, 2023. Successful grant applicants will be notified via email.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be a graduating high school student, college, or university undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from a program in biology, botany, ecology, entomology, environmental science, or a related field of study.

• Recent college graduates must have graduated in 2022 or later to qualify.

• Graduating high school students will qualify if they plan to enroll in a related undergraduate program in Fall Semester 2023.
